Funny you say that your a rider fan and I am not saying your one of the problem people here but what I do not understand is you nit pick how a cop removes people for doing wrong. The idea is to get them out before the situation gets worse. How would you feel if they took their time and the fight escalated and it hurt more bystanders. Right you know how do it better. Your the second rider fan on here questioning the actions of the officers. Maybe you can make their job that much easier if you stay home. Like I said before these guys are doing their job as best as they can in difficult situations.

I'm there for the game so I can pay no attention to what is happening in the stands and concentrate on the field. My kids who are 8 and 5, no matter how much they love going to football games with dad, cannot just sit and watch the game. They are looking everywhere but the field and that means they are watching every moron who acts like a jerk and are forced to hear what is pretty much a full on barrage of f bombs and other great language for kids.
It simply doesn't happen at other games like it does when the riders come to town and to top it off you get idiot stamps "fans" who try to keep up with them or feel it's their duty to drunkenly defend some kind of honour.
That's my problem with the rowdies.

I don't have kids, but I've coached youth sports for more than 15 years now and have taken the teams I've coached to major sporting events...I know what it's like to try to keep kids occupied at events. Maybe pick them up a Stampeders colouring book or something to keep them occupied when they lose interest in the game. At the game, I gave my buddy sitting beside me hell in front of everyone for dropping the f-bomb because there were a couple of 6-8 year olds sitting 2 rows infront of us and a 8 year old behind us. Don't even know if the kids heard it, but he said it loud enough that they could have. He was mad it me the rest of the game for 'making a scene' about it and we had a good 'airing of greivances' after the game about it too, but it's just something I don't stand for.
I'm in no way defending the rowdy fans, they annoy the hell out of me as well. I pay money to watch football, not have some goof spilling beer on me, or being obscene, but it just seems like some people make a mountain out of a mole hill. You're gonna find idiots anywhere you go. Do you stop shopping at the mall if some punk kid is talking infront of you and drops an F-bomb infront of your kids? Not trying to call you out or whatever, just making an example...it happens everywhere.
If someone is acting like a jerk, notify security. At Mosaic they have a text messaging system set up that is announced in the first quarter and displayed on one of the big screens periodically throughout the game, where you can text a number with the section, row and seat number and what they are doing and security will be on it right away to deal with it. If it's serious enough the person gets no warning and gets ejected. When people know that it's being monitored THAT well, they tend to mess around a lot less. We also have a "family fun zone", where alcohol is prohibited in that section, just so the people with kids don't have to worry about having any 'bad influences' around the kids. Write to the Stamps organization and make some suggestions to them, even if they only implement it for the Rider games if you all seem to think we're the only problem.
And I'm sorry, but you're second paragraph is absolutely laughable! Maybe I'm wrong, but I find that very hard to beleive that this stuff only happens at Rider games...perhaps a little more, but again, 20 incidents out of 35,000? It's not like it's jumping up to 500 people here. I'm sure there's a slight increase, but that happens in any event when there's a hot rivalry and it's a battle for first place. I'm sure no different than a BoSox/Yanks game or Habs/Bruins playoff game. I'm all for a sporting event being family friendly, but anytime you mix booze with adreneline/passion for a team, you're gonna get offensive behaviour. It just comes with the territory.

You clearly have absolutely no experience in dealing with drunk people, working security or trying to work your way through a crowd while trying to control an agressive/spazzing person.

Of course you do not believe it does not only happen at the rider games. The problem it is probably the worst game of the year at McMahon for bad behaviour. You are in denial and this does not surprise me or anyone.

I'm not in denial about anything. This was my first trip to McMahon (maybe it's more ignorance than denial), so maybe it is only Rider games, who knows, but I didn't see any real incidents. Saw a Stamps fan get escorted out about 20 rows infront of me and there was someone else about 20 rows back (didn't see what colour they were wearing...was more interested in the game). If roughly 20 ejections out of 35,000 people is the worst game of the year, then congratulations of having a well behaved crowd. I've been to concerts that have had far fewer people attending and far more ejections.
I've been to other stadiums for Rider games and other CFL/other sporting events and it hasn't seemed a whole lot different. Drunks are drunks, jerks are jerks...doesn't matter what colour they are wearing. Writting off 10-15,000 people that bought a ticket to the game and pumped money into your economy for a weekend becuase of 10 people getting kicked out is flat out ignorant in my opinion (no offense, but really...).

There will be more incidences during the Rider games, just like there was more incidences when the Eskies used to send busloads down.
Is it a wine and cheese party when the other teams are here? No. But "slightly" is not a word I'd use.
It brings out the worst in some fans.
Edit - do I have a number? No, I'd be guessing.

I've noticed the Riders have a lot of younger fans. Younger fans drink more and party harder. Combine booze, a good rivalry, and a lot of out of town fans, and you're going to have fights.
You can't compare a Stamps-Rider game to a Stamps-Winnipeg game where the few fans that show up are 50 years old.
I always thought we had family sections that prohibited booze but maybe i'm wrong. You're never going to get rid of swearing but the police do there best to stop the extremely rude stuff.
People have to remember that this is a football game and not a tea party. That being said McMahon should have a booze free section for families if they don't already.

The fact you admit this was your first time to McMahon and it makes you an expert. Seems common with some rider fans that one experience makes it seem normal. What may be normal to you at Regina may not be acceptable here. Frankly you puttin money into the economy means nothing because your fan base keeps many Calgary fans and their families from going to the games which would normally spend money anyway. So get off your high horse (broomstick horse) and ride off into the sunset. Why is it that you think only rider fans spend money? Big deal you add to the few empty seats? Many seats are available because the zoo animals come to town. I gues you have not read most the threads here.
