Feel free to help out with the list then. I'd much rather you add to what has been started then sit here and criticize it.
My information is based on various press releases that state the exact number of years a player is signed for. FA is simply stating when the player could become a FA.

Thats what makes the CFL ontracts hard to follow.
When they say wer signed him for 2 years, your never quite sure if its 1+1 to make 2, or they mean its a 2 years deal, with the automatic option.
I meant no insult, just trying to help.

Well, the point of this thread was to gain an understanding of when players are under contractual obligation to the Calgary Stampeders. Obviously with the shoddy reporting of contract figures in the CFL it isn't going to perfect but it is better then nothing.
Again, feel free to make changes as you see fit. The more accurate we can make this thing the better.

I have the list in a word document and can't figure out how to properly convert the chart. Hence the poor formatting.
Anyways, The list above is what I've managed to find via google and this site. I'm trying to accumulate as big a list as possible since there's no info at all regarding this type on information online.
If anyone has any contract specs for any other Stamp or can correct something I've gotten wrong I would really appreciate it.
Help me out!!

We started keeping this thread because we were interested in having some idea what was going on with the Stamps and their re-signing of players. Once we started this thread, the Stamps stopped giving any information whatsoever about the contracts the players sign.
I feel the secrecy is bad for the team and the league. I wish they could see the benefit of keeping their fans informed. This would be my biggest criticism of the Stampeders organization. Why can't they tell us the contract length, or injury information - like when a guy is out for the year? You'd think with a guy like Petrie working for them, they'd know how fans are interested in this stuff.

Anyone got any ideas why there's so much secrecy in the league. It seems CFL CEO's, GMs, VPs, head coaches are mostly in on the game.
My suspicion is that it protects against corporate theft from other squads.
However, I just think a culture of secrecy pervades our league and most executives just go with the flow. If you put out too much information the fans (the most important part of this small but historic league) have the upper hand and CFL execs (from Cohon down) think this is bad for operations.
Just one small query? How can it be bad?

My theory is that there are a lot of side deals with players regarding things like NFL opportunities. For instance, I believe last year the Lions let Logan try out for the Steelers even though he wasn't in his option year yet. Buono mentioned some verbal committment and it generated a little bad press around the league. I'm betting that these deals are more prevalent than the team is willing to admit and wants to avoid fan criticism whenever a player takes the team up on one of its verbal promises. Now if someone tries out for an NFL team we simply assume that he is in his option year...
Either way, it is up to the team to come clean and at least communicate why they choose to do business this way instead of hiding behind the "competitive advantage" company line...
